Remember however that the reserves operated by WMBC require permits for visits. We often combine visits to the NEC with a walk around the Ladywalk Reserve at Hams Hall or a short drive north will bring you to Kingsbury Water Park.

We found over 600 Cranes (right) at Lac de Puydarrieux, not far from Tarbes in SW France, in February 2007. The reserve warden is friendly and informative and she speaks good English. Also at this site was a Juv White-tailed Eagle on its second winter there. In August at the same site was Osprey and Black Tern.

The site gives you access to information regarding their on going surveys such as Garden Bird Watch or the Bird Atlas 2007 - 11. If you want to get involved, even if it is only for 10 minutes each week logging the birds that visit your garden, this is the way YOU can add to the science of ornithology.
